Price tracking tools mostly cover one retailer. A change detector covers all of them, because it does not care what the site is — it watches the part of the page holding the number and tells you when that number moves.

How do you get alerted when a price drops?
Point a change detector at the product page, select the region containing the price, and choose how often to check. When the price changes you get an alert with the old and new figures and a screenshot. It works on any publicly visible product page — retailers, flights, hotels, marketplaces — rather than the single site a dedicated tracker supports.
Most price trackers are tied to one retailer. That is fine until the thing you want is on a site nobody built a tracker for — a manufacturer's own store, a specialist retailer, a hotel, a course, a B2B supplier.
Change detection takes the general approach. It does not understand what a price is; it notices that the text in the region you selected is different from last time. That makes it work anywhere, at the cost of being slightly more manual to set up.
This guide covers doing it well: selecting the right region, choosing a frequency, and knowing which pages are going to fight you.
This one decision determines whether the alerts are useful or ignorable.
A product page carries recommendations, reviews, "customers also bought", delivery estimates and often a countdown timer. Watching the whole page means alerts on all of it. Select the price element and everything else is ignored.
A number alone can be ambiguous in an alert. Selecting the price with its currency symbol makes the before-and-after immediately readable.
If the page has size or colour options, the price shown is the default variant. Where each variant has its own URL, watch that URL instead.
Some retailers move prices by a few cents constantly. A threshold means only a meaningful drop reaches you, while everything else is still recorded in the history.
If you only want to hear about drops rather than any movement, review the history rather than the alert — we report that the price changed and show you both figures, we do not filter by direction.
This is where most price monitoring plans fall over.
A price you check daily is a price you find out about a day late, which for a flash sale is the same as not finding out. But frequency is what makes metered tools expensive: one page checked every fifteen minutes uses roughly 2,900 checks a month, which is three times a typical 1,000-check monthly allowance for a single product.
Because plans here sell watched pages rather than checks, twenty-five products at five-minute intervals costs $5 a month and does not vary with how busy the month is. That is the whole argument for this approach over a metered one.
| What you are watching | Suggested interval | Plan needed |
|---|---|---|
| A flash sale or limited drop | Every 60 seconds | Pro |
| A product you are ready to buy today | Every 5 minutes | Founding Member ($5) or Growth |
| Flights and hotels | Every 15-30 minutes | Any paid plan |
| A wishlist item, no rush | Every 30 minutes | Free plan |
Better to know before you subscribe than after.
Plenty of large retailers build the price client-side. We can render those on paid plans, checked at up to every fifteen minutes rather than every five. Test the specific page before relying on it.
Some of the biggest actively refuse anything that is not a browser session. We identify ourselves honestly rather than disguising the traffic, so a site determined to block us will succeed. This is a real limitation and it affects some obvious names.
A page that prices by account, location or session shows us one figure and you another. Treat the alert as a signal rather than a quote.
Trade pricing and member-only prices cannot be reached by a hosted checker, and we will not ask for your account credentials.
For a console or sneaker release that sells out in ninety seconds, a sixty-second check may still be too slow, and purpose-built retail bots will beat us. We would rather say that than take the money.
Get told when the price changes on any public product page.
We load it and show it back to you exactly as we fetched it, so you can confirm the price is visible.
Select the price element with its currency symbol so reviews, recommendations and delivery estimates are ignored.
Five minutes if you are ready to buy, thirty minutes for a wishlist item, sixty seconds on Pro for a flash sale.
So a few cents of movement is recorded without emailing you.
A push notification reaches your phone lock screen, which matters when the window is short.
The first check records the current price as the baseline. After that you hear from us only when it moves.
Typically about 2 minutes from start to finish.
Uptime monitors, watched pages and heartbeats each get their own allowance, so adding a page watch never costs you a monitor. SSL and domain checks ride along with the monitor they belong to and use nothing extra.
| Plan | Monitors | Watched pages | Heartbeats | Fastest interval | Alert channels | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | 1 | 1 | 1 | Every 30 minutes | 1 email address | $0 |
| Founding Member first 20 only | 25 | 25 | 25 | Every 5 minutes | Email + webhook & chat | $5/mo |
| Basic | 10 | 10 | 10 | Every 10 minutes | Email + webhook & chat | $8/mo |
| Growth | 50 | 50 | 50 | Every 5 minutes | Email + webhook & chat | $19/mo |
| Pro | 100 | 100 | 100 | Every 60 seconds | Email + webhook & chat | $34/mo |
Annual billing is cheaper on every paid tier. The pricing page is the authoritative list.
Every recorded change is compared word by word and kept with a before-and-after image. This is the real output, shown with worked example data.
Price fell from $49 to $39, and an annual discount was added.
The item is available again and the basket button returned.
A new subprocessor was added in another jurisdiction.
The free plan sends to one email address. Every paid plan adds the chat and webhook channels below, with 2 to 10 destinations depending on the plan. However many alerts you receive, the price does not change — nothing here is metered or charged per alert.
There are no voice calls and no SMS. If a phone call at 3am is a hard requirement, say so before you subscribe — we would rather tell you now than refund you later.
Watch the product page and select the region holding the price. When that text changes you are alerted with the old and new figures and a screenshot. It works on any publicly visible product page rather than only the retailers a dedicated tracker supports.
Often, but not always. Some large retailers block automated requests or build the price in JavaScript. Browser rendering on paid plans handles the second case; the first is a genuine limitation, so test your specific product page on the free plan before paying.
Yes, where the price appears on a publicly reachable page for a fixed search. Fares that only exist inside a booking session or change with every search cannot be compared reliably.
Every 30 minutes on the free plan, five minutes on the $5 Founding Member plan, and sixty seconds on Pro. For a flash sale, faster is genuinely better.
It tells you the price changed and shows both figures, in either direction. There is no drop-only filter, so a price rise will also alert you — which some people want and others find noisy.
One on free, 25 on the $5 plan, 50 on Growth and 100 on Pro. There is no monthly check quota, so watching 25 products every five minutes costs the same as watching them daily.
Because they sell checks by the month. One page at fifteen-minute intervals is about 2,900 checks — three times a typical 1,000-check allowance for a single product. Selling slots instead of checks is what makes frequent monitoring affordable.
No. For a release that sells out in ninety seconds, purpose-built retail bots are faster than a sixty-second check and we would rather say so than take your money for it.
No. Prices only visible after signing in cannot be reached by a hosted change detector, and we do not ask for your account credentials.
Yes. Every recorded change stores a full-page before-and-after image with the changed text highlighted, plus a word-level diff.

Free plan covers one product at 30-minute checks. $5/mo covers 25 at five minutes.
